Volunteers are what our program is based on and what makes it great.  Without a village of people banding together to help make our program run strong, we wouldn't be the success we are today. There are many ways to fulfill your families volunteer hours - here are a few suggestions:

• Tryout Helpers (Sept-Oct)
• Team Managers
• Coaching Positions
• S.K.A.T.E. Committee Member
• BYHA Tournament Helpers

IMPORTANT NOTE: Team parent duties do not count toward volunteer hours, however, it is expected that every family share in these duties for each team you have a player on. Those duties include: locker room monitors, running the clock, penalty box, and keeping the score book.

Each BYHA traveling family is required to volunteer at least five (5) credits per season.  There are opportunities throughout the season to complete these hours, please check the volunteer section on the web site to sign up.

Volunteer hours are documented and tracked through DIBS.

ALL Volunteers, Team Managers and Trainers are required to do the following;

• Register with USA Hockey as a Volunteer/Manager.  (online here)
  • Required every year
• Register with BYHA by clicking the link below.
  • Required every year
• Complete the USA Hockey SafeSport Training.  (online here) 
  • Required every year

Anyone who will have regular contact with (or authority over) minor athletes is required to submit to a background screen before any such contact with minor athletes. 

Managers are required to complete the Background Screening

Trainers are required to complete the Background Screening

• If the task work your volunteering for involves exposure to players, please complete USA Hockey Background Screening: $30 FEE  (online here)
  • Please keep PROOF OF COMPLETION or the email receipt on record
  • Required every 2 years
