Summer Skills Camp is for players who will be in the Traveling program this winter (born on or before June 30, 2009).

All registered players will receive 25 hours of on-ice training and 8 hours of dryland spread out between the spring and fall seasons. Under the instruction of Miles VanTassell and Acceleration North, players will be focusing on the necessary skills to prepare for the next level of hockey. The Spring & Fall camps will be working on and reinforcing level appropriate techniques which include stick handling, shooting, angling, proper checking, strength training, and more.


  • Elite Blue (Bantams)
  • Elite White (Peewee/Squirt)
  • Elite Pink (U10/U12/U15)

Cost for Summer Skills Camp is $349.

Summer Academy is for players who will be in Mites this winter (born after June 30, 2009).


  • A/B/C Mites
  • D Mites
  • Cubs/Beginners
  • U8/U8 Futures

All players will be placed in the Level at which they played in the 2017-2018 Winter season.

All registered players attend the Academy sessions for their level for $249.

* For those in the A, B & C or U8 levels, 12 hours of goalie training with Pro Hybrid Training is also offered for an additional $50. MN Hockey Participation Rule

To be eligible to play for Blaine Youth Hockey Association, you must either:

  • Live within the boundaries covered by Blaine High School OR
  • If open enroll in a school whose location is within the boundaries of Blaine High School, must obtain a school waiver and have proof of attendance OR
  • Obtain a player waiver (for more information, please contact your home association)

All participants registering for BYHA (players, coaches, volunteers) MUST register with USA HOCKEY prior to registering with the association. You will get a nine-digit confirmation code that needs to be entered during BYHA registration. 

The registration fee is $40 for USA Hockey and $10 for MN Hockey (US Hockey affiliate) if age 7 or older. The USA Hockey fee is waived for age 6 and younger, however, registration must still be completed to obtain a confirmation number. If a participant plays and coaches he/she pays only one registration fee. USA Hockey requires this fee because USA Hockey carries insurance for an injury on the ice.

The home address should be used for all participants. If a player lives in one state and plays in another, enter the home address and pay any applicable Affiliate fee. The confirmation page/number will be accepted by any USA Hockey program in the country.

Additional confirmation pages can be requested from the Welcome page at USA Hockey. Click on the puck in the upper left corner and enter last name, date of birth and zip code. You can then print the page or send it to the email address you enter. 

Steps to register on USA Hockey:  

  1. Go to and choose;
    • Ice Players & Coaches
    • Ice Managers/Volunteers
  2. Click on the "register now" button on the left hand side
  3. You must be 18 years of age to process a registration; check the box that acknowledges that YOU are 18 or older. 
  4. Follow the prompts and fill in all data correctly. ENTER YOUR CHILD's NAME EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS ON THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE.  Your player's paperwork is not valid unless their names match.
  5. Process payment using: Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express (credit or debit card); a Visa gift card will also work.
  6. You may print your Confirmation page at this time. It will also be emailed to you immediately after the registration is completed.

Sports Engine

To access BYHA online registration you will need to log in to your SportsEngine account. Do not create a new account if you already have one. If you do not yet have a SportsEngine account, you need to create one by clicking on the "create an account" at the top of the page.


BYHA is a non-profit organization. All of our programs are budgeted to break even. The combination of registration and team fees must cover the costs of operating our Association programs. These fees are determined each year based on our current operating costs, projected player counts and best estimates of revenue from Sponsorships, Fundraising Initiatives and Charitable Gambling donations.

Registration fees are utilized to pay for operating costs, such as:

  • pre-skate, tryout, and initiation ice
  • equipment (pucks, puck bags, first aid equipment, etc.)
  • administration costs (office supplies, website, postage, annual audit, etc.)

Registration fee is due for all players at time of registration. Also, all outstanding family accounts must be paid in full. Players will not be allowed to participate in pre-skates, tryouts and in-house initiation skates if there is an outstanding prior year balance.

An additional team fee will be assessed after team selections are made. This will occur 15-20 days after team selections are complete. You will be notified of the amount due. Team/Ice fees are utilized to pay for operating costs, such as:

  • District 10 fees (game ice, referee fees, etc.)
  • Practice ice time
  • Coaching stipends/credits
  • Tournament fees
  • Off ice training

Payment options for team/ice fees will be done online using your SportsEngine account, and can be made via credit or debit card*.

* Neither BYHA or SportsEngine retain or store your credit/debit card or bank account information. All payment information, including recurring billing are processed by Verisign and the transaction is secure through the merchant account with PCI Level 1 compliance.
* A processing fee of 3.75% plus $1.50 will be added to each transaction. 

  • Payment can be made in full by November 1  OR
  • In scheduled installments: 
    • First payment due November 1, 2017
    • Second payment due December 15, 2017
    • Third payment due January 15, 2018

If team fees are not paid in full before February 1, 2018, player will no longer be able to participate in BYHA activities, including: District, Region, State tournament play.

Credits can be earned/applied to team fees. You must contact the Treasurer to receive a credit code to apply during online payment selection. Credits can be received for:

  • Coaching stipend/credit
  • Goalie credit
  • Coop agreements with other Associations
  • Multi-player discount**

**If a family has three (3) or more players, they can apply for a registration fee credit. To apply, submit a completed registration form to the Treasurer. Credit amounts will be applied in order of the youngest player first.


Refunds will be handled as stated below:

  • Refund request is submitted in writing, to the BYHA Treasurer AND the age appropriate Director.
  • All BYHA issued equipment is returned in good condition.
  • BYHA member family account is in good standing.
  • Players that have not participated in any BYHA activities for the season, including pre-skates and tryouts/initiations, will be refunded in full, less a $75.00 administration fee.
  • When a BYHA player has been injured and misses twenty-one (21) consecutive days of play:
    • Team manager must submit the request.
    • ​​​​​​​Amount refunded will be determined by date of injury, expected length of time missed and the costs incurred by the Association for the player. 

No refunds of any type will be given until the Treasurer has approval from the Board.


Each BYHA family is required to volunteer at least five (5) hours per season. There are opportunities throughout the season to complete these hours, please check the volunteer section on the web site to sign up.

Volunteer hours are documented by completing a Volunteer Confirmation Sheet, available under the Forms and Documents section, and verified by the party responsible for the activity. Completed documents are submitted to the Volunteer Coordinator.
